Our first plum, and the easiest one to start with. Methley is a Japanese plum that is fully self fertile, so one tree gives you a full crop of sweet, reddish purple plums with juicy red flesh. It ripens early in summer and needs only 150 to 250 chill hours, which makes it one of the few plums that produce well in the warm South. A heavy, reliable bearer that also pollinates other Japanese plums.
